✨ "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea."✨
✨ BASED ON A TRUE STORY ✨
I had always loved cats. In my village, cats used to be everywhere. Stray, famished and usually missing an eyeball, or both… Most would die run over by cars or well, others in quite cruel ways. It was a standard procedure to drown cats, bury them alive or boil them in hot water. I don’t have an explanation for this. But this was pretty common place in the village I grew up in. Some would be a little luckier and find a benevolent family that would feed them occasionally in their backyard. Offering more protection and consistent food. But the idea of a house cat was not at all common.
I tried, believe me! But every time I would bring a cat home they would invariably steal some food from the counter or the fireplace lip where my mother sometimes would place it to keep it warm.
Those naughty adventures would not help their case, or mine. I would get scolded for bringing home those filthy creatures that had no sense of loyalty or manners.
Frequently, in my daily walks around the village, I would manage to grab a baby kitten and rescue it.
Spring time was my favorite time of the year. It still is. The weather gets warmer, my birthday ensues and new kitties are born. Tons of kitties. During spring, cats would give birth to new litters and boy was I a happy girl! I would see them be born. Not all of them would survive. I would see them learn how to suck milk, open their eyes slowly and learn how to meow. They would start walking outside and have little personalities, their tails up like antennas excited to see the world.
Some would die on the road as they explored their whereabouts. Others would get diseases, and perish. Others would be killed by neighbors, caught most likely doing something unsavory. Only a few would arrive at adulthood unscathed. My children! I adored them and named them all like my own children. At one point, to my mother’s absolute consternation, I had rescued 19 cats. A testament to my perseverance and belief that love conquers all!
However, there was one cat that dominated my imagination above all others.
At home, I would watch a cat food commercial that captivated me, one in particular caught my attention. A far cry from the scraps and leftovers I would feed my cats.
The opening was this beautiful, sophisticated, dark haired woman. Arriving home at the end of a day’s work, it seemed. It was dark outside and she lived in a modern penthouse apartment, windows overlooking a big bright city. A big city. As she arrives home she is greeted by an extraordinarily beautiful gray cat with bright greenish blue eyes. She would only serve the cat exquisite canned food which she served on a beautiful plate, garnished with a sprig of parsley.

✨ Step 1- The Dream
The Cadillac of cat food & The Dreamiest of Cats.
I had no idea what type of cat that was but it remained tattooed in my brain.
When I grow up, I would fantasize, I will be a sophisticated woman that only feeds her cat canned food with a sprig of parsley. The cat, the cat will be beautiful, sophisticated and above all: gray!
✨ Step 2- The Plan
The symbol of status and achievement! I had to have made it in life if I made myself into a sophisticated, independent, working woman living in a big city with a beautiful gray cat.
✨ Step 3- The Trigger
Years later, already living in Brooklyn, I decided I was ready to be a cat mom again. This time, for real. A house kitty of my own that would sleep next to me and loved only me. My own gray cat.
✨ Step 4- The Quest
I started harassing everyone around me about this idea of having a gray cat and how I always wanted a gray cat and now it was time to have a gray cat. If you know of a gray cat, please send it my way. I am looking for a gray cat.
✨ Step 5- The Critical Choice
I searched pet shops and vets at no avail 😔
✨ Step 6- Surrender
I gave up my search, certain that God was telling me this was not the right time…
✨ Step 7 - A New Path
Then one Christmas morning, I am GIFTED the tiniest, smallest, gray kitty. Immediately my heart stops. This baby can fit in the palm of my hands and already owns me completely.

✨ Step 8 - The Climax
A couple of weeks later, on her first vet appointment it is revealed she is a Russian Blue cat.
Now, I had no idea what that was so as soon as the vet left I decided to investigate and proceeded to google it. And there it was:
One of the first entries was a Sheba cat food commercial. The same ones I used to watch on repeat…. I could barely believe it.
✨ Step 9 - The Dream
I knew I had envisioned myself with a gray kitten as a grown up based on those commercials but I had no idea the Universe would be so specific.

Turns out Buying a House, Creating a Business, Moving to another Country, Writing a Book, Producing a Play or Learning any Skill, follows a system: They are all Stories.
Nature follows it too. Growing up in a rural part of Portugal, I watched my family live off the land. The Blueprint is the same. From the choice of Heirloom seeds, to planting, growing and harvesting. 3-6-9. I have not invented anything new. I only observed what God created and I am working on mastering it.
