Et Pluribus, Unum.

An Essay on Integration, Diversity and the Truth about Focus

This week on The Outsider: we're diving into the concept of Focus. In today’s fast-changing, interdisciplinary world, generalization is gaining renewed importance. Being single minded, removing distractions or focusing on one thing at a timeis not only archaic: it’s sexist. Let’s get into it →

🛒 Editor’s Picks: The Truth about Focus

  • Removing distractions will not make you more focused (only more paranoid)

  • Focusing on one thing will isolate your ideas. They need community.

  • Focus is spiritual construct, not just intellectual. You cannot focus more by strategizing for focus. Focus = Love in Action.

  • Multiplicity is a female skill. Multiple tasks, multiple tabs, multiple orgasms. Women led businesses will require understanding of this Super-Skill: Multi-Tasking. Whoever told you to Focus on “One Thing” was a man.

How to Nail Real Estate Social Media: As we move from spring to summer, layering is your best friend. Think:

  • layered photos, collages and sheerness

  • more photography, soft, light and lacey

  • old school advertisment in look and feel

  • invest in yourself and show what real estate is doing for you

  • document and share your growth. Ppl will laugh. Pay no mind.

Don’t be afraid to mix conflicting values — authenticy is INTEGRATION of all of you

From the return of 80’s and 90’s to the rise of quiet luxury, real estate social media is in a fascinating flux right now. This season’s best accounts were a masterclass in contrast — structured tailoring one moment, and flowing romanticism the next. Clean, minimalism, neutral, pastels but also lots of drama and colors.

Color palettes are shifting too: think sun-washed neutrals, earthy greens, and pops of electric blue. Accessories are having a maximalist moment, with chunky gold and oversized opinions making a bold comeback.

Street style is still where the real experimentation happens. From statements from low income renters to wealthy investors, mingle with everyone.

And whether you’re designing a social media post, getting dressed for a showing or helping a client stage a home, this is the season to lean into effortless confidence — because your brand needs to be reflected in everything you do. Integrate your looks, your social media and your advertisement all in to one seemless feel.

Social Media is the first line of any business in 2025 and no longer an option. Invest.

Integration. Also, interpreted as Duality or Contrast. Concepts that are vital for Art Creation, Self-Actualization and well… the Creation of anything. Including our Real Estate Journey.

The Greeks alerted us on this topic with the birth of Greek Tragedy: the importance of the Dionysus & Apollos energy on stage. Nietzsche understood its importance in morals when he left us Beyond Good & Evil. Jung recognized that every good quality has a bad side and that nothing good can be created without creating it’s directly corresponding evil. We can even find records of the importance of contrast in the Bible: “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things."

What scholars, artists, philosophers, teachers and scientists alike have discovered is that completeness comes from “Integration.” Wholeness. The refusal to discard what isn’t appealing but to accept and highlight what others would repel.

Silence & Sound.

At its core, contrast is the juxtaposition of opposites—light against dark, joy against sorrow, success against failure. It is through these differences that we are able to understand the nuances of life, find meaning in our experiences, and ultimately grow as individuals. One of the most profound aspects of contrast is its paradoxical nature. While we often think of opposites as entirely separate and conflicting, in reality, they are often two sides of the same coin. A virgin Canvas is spotless. But it tells no Story. It is the soiling of the brushes and the paint, contrasting against the blank backdrop, that create art. It is the contrast between stillness and movement that creates Dance.

What we offer at House.Roc is an fully Integrated Learning Experience, where all of ourselves count. All our imperfections as buyers or sellers. The skill we borrowed from a different lifetime, or the talent we kept hidden for sheer embarrassment. Our penchant for arts & crafts or our lack of temper in the mornings. It all matters. it all counts.

Our Real Estate Journey cannot and should not be spotless. Wether our Credit Scores feel humiliating to us, or the Zeros in our savings account seem defeating. The comparisons to the next door neighbors and the naggin’ feeling we are the only ones left behind. Our inattention to detail or our inability to focus for more than 10 minutes.

IT ALL COUNTS.

Like strands of a braid or words in an essay, every aspect needs to be considered, Integrated and used as a stepping stone to our next moment, our next victory. Contrast is what makes the wheels spin. Keep moving…

Et Pluribus Unum

Diversity for Business

The real estate world isn’t slowing down, and neither are we. Crochet is officially back, not just for beach! For everything we desire to create. Diversity is more than mere coexistence; it is the active process of crochet-ing diverse groups while preserving and respecting individual identities. It involves equal participation, mutual understanding, and shared responsibilities. Integration does not mean assimilation, where differences are erased; instead, it fosters a pluralistic society where diversity is valued as a strength. This process requires institutional support, inclusive policies, and ongoing cultural dialogue to ensure that all members of society have access to opportunities and feel a sense of belonging.

From many, one: The motto "E Pluribus Unum" captures the balance between these ideas: not by eliminating differences, but by integrating them into a greater, collective identity

Filipa Focus

Hi! This is your favorite realtor. I hold a CIPS Designation (rare and valuable license designation that allows me to sell all over the world. For adventure seekers only.)

Focus. Focus is not a by-product of single mindedness or removal of “sin” or distraction. In fact, Focus, much like a muscle, is exercised against distraction. Sterilization of environment weakens the mind and allows for much higher levels of paranoia, dissatisfaction, and burn-out. When your mind is overstimulated or prone to overthinking, “distractions” can prevent mental fatigue or hyper-focus on unimportant details. This helps sustain attention on the task that actually matters. What keeps you “sinning” is the knowledge of sinning. and the emotional entanglement you have with it. Release the notion you should be doing something else. Release the notion that there is such a waste of time. Release the guilt.

YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL. Don’t believe me? Follow me on Instagram and keep watching.

One great example of purposeful distraction is reading several books at the same time. I not only stay engaged in reading for longer but understand the premises better. And I also experience less boredom, which increases my likelihood of repeating the task.

I can bounce from task to task. From my left foot to my right foot. Make the tasks shorter and reserve lots of time to doing tasks that require no reward. Doing for the sake of doing increases your time spent on task, which is the only metric that guarantees success.

How long should I do this task for? Until you develop feelings for it. FOCUS is a by-product of LOVE. Not some god-like ability to not deviate your attention.

In physical form: your focus is determined by a few points:

  • Your Pelvic area will determine WHAT, you should Focus on (Desire); Horniness is vital for success. Don’t spend your vital juices on the devil.

  • You Belly Button is WHERE, you activate your focus. Activate your Core for activated Focus (Will Power)

  • Your Heart will activate the WHY. Without the Why nothing else is sustainable; (Love)

  • Your Third Eye is HOW, giving visibility to the road ahead. Laser Focus means to shed light only on the task in front of you. You can switch task as many times as you want or engage in no task at all. Focus on nothing is called meditation.

Everything you learn or experience, informs something else. Don’t discard any idea, passion, interest or motivation. Follow ALL your passions and desires. They reveal you to yourself. Stay in love with the activity and you’ll never have to compromise.

Being distracted with the things you love is the ultimate type of focus.

xoxo,

Filipa
