📺 Something's Got Me Started

As the world turns, a woman becomes obsessed with one question: what causes someone to change direction? Caught between fear and desire, she begins to unravel the mystery of the Trigger—the force that sets transformation in motion. Along the way, she discovers that while no one can escape life's endless cycles of growth, decay, and rebirth, a fortunate few learn to take agency over them. Will she wait for life to provide a trigger, or will she create one of her own?

Something's Got Me Started

As the World Turns

The other day I found myself thinking about how strange it is that everything changes. Constantly. The coffee on my desk was getting colder. The tree outside my window was growing. Somewhere a child was being born. Somewhere a star was dying. Somewhere a couple was signing a marriage certificate in front of all their friends and family, while another was quietly signing their divorce papers…

For most of my life, I thought transformation was a major event. Dramatic. Something that happened after a big decision or a major catastrophe.

Truth is, transformation is the default condition of reality. Everything participates in the same cycle: birth, growth, expansion, decay, death, and rebirth. Businesses do it. Relationships do it. Nations do it. Human beings do it. The cycle is older than any of us, and none of us escape it.

What fascinates me is that the universe itself appears to have no preferred direction. Scientists call this isotropy. There is no cosmic arrow pointing toward success, failure, wealth, poverty, love, loneliness, wisdom, or ignorance. The system exists, but the destination is left open. Things change, but in which direction?

This is where human beings become interesting…

You are now reading:

We cannot change the system. We are subject to the same cycle as everything else. We age. We grow. We decline. We begin again.

But unlike most things in nature, we possess Agency. We can alter the direction within the cycle. A person can wake up one morning and decide that the future will not resemble the past.

The question is what causes the turn?

When I look back on my own life, I don't remember changing gradually. I remember moments. Going to college. Moving to America. Leaving relationships. Starting businesses. Looking back, every transformation seems to orbit around a single point. A trigger. Something got me started.

For a long time, I thought the trigger was the event itself. The opportunity. The heartbreak. The loss. The chance encounter. But now I think the event is only the outcome. Underneath it lies a tension that has usually been building for much longer.

Fear and desire.

Fear of what I might lose.

Desire for what I might gain.

Most of life is spent somewhere between the two. We tolerate situations we know are wrong. We postpone decisions. We wait for certainty. We negotiate with ourselves. One day we are pulled by desire. The next we are held back by fear. The dance continues. Ad Eternum…

But then something shifts.

Something gets us started.

This realization led me to Step 3 of the Dream Catcher System: The Trigger.

The Dream Catcher System - Something to Get You Started

The Dream Catcher System - Hercules Edition

The Trigger is Step 3 of the Dream Catcher System - a framework built around a simple observation: transformation is inevitable, but direction is not.

Being an “Agent” is the Gift.

Perhaps that is the real miracle of being human. Not that we can escape transformation, but that we have agency over it. We can recognize when the world is trying to move us. We can choose whether to respond. And every once in a while, we can create the very conditions that alter our own direction.

Something is always trying to get us started. A dream. A fear. A loss. A possibility. A person. A song.

A Book.

A Shooting Star…

The question is not whether change will arrive: - The system is unwavering.

The question is whether we will recognize it when it does. Before it does. And can we create triggers on our own?

“The Agent “- Coming Soon…

That same question sits at the heart of The Agent, a story about Regina - a woman who believes life has already made its decision about her, only to discover that a different future remains possible. Like all of us, she is caught between fear and desire. Like all of us, she is waiting for a sign. Until she realizes she doesn't want to wait any longer.

And she just got started.

Special Thanks!

The Outsider and House.Roc Real Estate Entertainment are proud to continue creating content, stories, art, and experiences that celebrate dreamers, outsiders, and those brave enough to begin again. Through essays, films, photography, real estate, and creative projects, we explore what it means to build a life, pursue a dream, and find a place to call Home.

The Outsider is a love child of The Millionaire Real Estate Agent. While countless readers found business models and real estate strategies within its pages, I found something else—a trigger.

Don’t even get me started!

On pages 146–148, Gary Keller introduces the 33 Touch Campaign, a simple idea built on the power of consistent communication, valuable conversations and meaningful relationships. What began as a model for staying connected to a database planted a much larger seed.

The Outsider is a 33 Touch Campaign for Dreamers. Every issue is a touch. A reminder. A conversation. An invitation to think bigger, begin again, or keep going. What started as a real estate model evolved into something more personal— the shared Pursuit of a Meaningful Life.

If House.Roc is Our House, MREA was the foundation. The Outsider is the story, it grew from those pages. The Dream Catcher System - a cool version of a 411 or a GPS, The Agent, our Magazine, and much of the work that followed can trace their origins back to that original spark.

We are grateful to our readers, viewers, clients, collaborators, and fellow dreamers for joining us on this journey. Thank you for supporting independent storytelling, creative exploration, and the pursuit of new possibilities.

We're honored to be part of your story.

Special Thanks to Gary Keller and everyone who helped bring MREA into the world: thank you. You may have been teaching real estate, but for some of us, you were teaching possibility.
